With each passing day, the environmental horror being caused by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill becomes more apparent. Some of the most unique wildlife habitats in the world are being obliterated, entire species are being threatened with extinction and scientists are telling us that the Gulf of Mexico will never be the same again during any of our lifetimes. This is not just another Exxon Valdez or Hurricane Katrina. This is the end of an entire way of life for millions of people and for millions of birds, animals and fish. It is impossible to even put a price tag on what we are all losing as a result of this spill. BP will never make enough money to repay the damage that has been done already. And yet the oil just keeps gushing into the Gulf of Mexico. It is a nightmare that we can't wake up from and from which there is no escape.
Each day the news just seems to get worse. In fact, if you really dig into the news reports that are coming out about this spill it quickly becomes apparent that there is a whole lot more going on than we have been told.
The following are 9 horrific facts about the Gulf of Mexico oil spill that will blow your mind....
#1) According to an iReport on CNN, "significant amounts of oil" are floating ashore in the Florida Keys.
#2) Some workers are now finding dead dolphins rotting in the shore weeds along the Gulf coast.
#3) Scientists are telling us that the primary dispersant that BP has been using, Corexit 9527, ruptures red blood cells and causes fish to bleed.
#4) Professor Prosanta Chakrabarty of Louisiana State University says that she believes that "every fish and invertebrate contacting the oil is probably dying".
#5) There are new reports that fishermen all over the Gulf of Mexico are becoming seriously ill from breathing the toxic brew being created by this oil spill and BP's response to it.
#6) Transocean, the firm hired by BP to operate the Deepwater Horizon offshore drilling rig, recently announced that it will distribute $1 billion in dividends to shareholders even as oil continues to pour into the Gulf of Mexico.
#7) Not only that, but Transocean also has announced that it will make a $270 million profit on the insurance policy for the damaged oil rig.
#8) Matt Simmons, an energy adviser to former president George W. Bush, recently went on national television and claimed that "there's another leak, much bigger, 5 to 6 miles away" from the leaking riser and blowout preventer which everyone has been watching on the underwater cameras.
#9) Unfortunately, this disaster is far from over. In fact, some experts are now warning that the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico may continue gushing until December.

US adminstration should have been in the approval process for BP’s actions. So should environmentalists. they all shirked responsibility and BP frankly have got it wrong big time.
The ukcitymedia plan should have been implemented weeks ago. http://www.ukcitymedia.co.uk/news/fullstory.php?id=387
I think if we only have 1 ciferne picking up the water let’s gt 8 more of the dam things. Come on were america any ting is possible.
Someone needs to figure out how much of this poison the ocean can take before everything is dead. It only takes a drop of some poisons to kill the human body.
Will we live through this?
Yeah anything is possible if you’re an American… you might even be able to create a huge oil spill that will ruin the earth…
The question isn’t if this will cause the extinction of human kind, it’s the matter of when this will come upon us.
I was never a believer of prophecy’s, however, I may be starting to believe that the Mayans 2012 prediction may have some truth to it because I believe the really detrimental effects of this disaster will really be apparent in a year or so, in 2012 pandemic!
humans are so selfish. all they think about is themselves. so many species are being destroyed because of this. instead of trying to pin the blame on someone can we all just team up and try to fix this? it’s everyone fault. we abuse oil on the regular basis so something like this was bound to happen eventually. ugh. will us humans stop destroying the Earth that was provided to us. Look how we treat our home!
Behold, the end of days. If this does in fact wipe out human life as we know it, the disaster that is killing the plane will actually be cleansing it of the parasitic entity that is us human beings. This, however, is the best case scenario for Gaia. What if we survive? All that this will do is ensure that we kill Gaia now, not later. What if all life is extinguished? Then, we have successfully killed Gaia.
Our race’s self destructive nature will of course end us all. If we don’t kill ourselves now, the we will kill ourselves later, so do yourselves a favour. Accept your fate and get on with what is left with your pathetic human life.
I believe that this is an extinction level event, it’s just a matter of time.
This is the start of the %90 population reduction that the world leaders have in mind!
That’s what they get for drilling into the devil’s butt. Even BP (butt plug) is finding it quite hard to do something effectively.
END OF DAYS IMAGINE WHEN THE HURRICANE SEASON STARTS WHAT ARE THE SUPER SCIENTISTS AND ENGINEERS DOING DONT KNOW BUT THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE SHOULD GO TO JAIL AND UNFORTUNALLY WE ALL FEEL SUPER GILTY BECAUSE WE ARE CONSUMERS OF OIL AND IT ALL FEELS LIKE KARMA RAINING DOWN ON USA FOR ITS LONG TIME GREED OF OIL .. I THINK THIS PROBLEM IS WORST THAN WE THINK LETS PRAY AND HELP THE POOR ANIMALS GIVE THEM SHELTER
I even feel guilty for living in our modern society for using gas for my car, and electricity for my house. I think somehow we are all guilty for this disaster. Our modern way of living forces us to use oil where we all know we are part of the problem. We consume oil to support our modern lifestyle and now it is payback time for indulging in it. If we really want to change and save the world, we must let go of this modern lifestyle and go back to basics. The world is in a crossroad of making a very important decision, let go of oil or possibly perish with the consequences of our selfish actions. I just hope that it is not too late to change so that we can save ourselves and our beautiful and generous planet.
This is a really tragic thing happening in our Gulf.I wish it had not happened.
Im not sure what will happen next with it all.
Maybe no one wants to hear this, but Im going to say it anyway, There is a God in Heaven, who knows we live in a fallen world. He created us, he loves us, and No matter how bad things get in this world. We have Salvation through Jesus to see us through Eternity.
Im sorry so many of us have been bad stewards of this awesome Earth he gave to us.
So everyone, who is going to drive their car tomorrow? Put your actions behind what you think of this spill.
Adolf Hitler and Nazi scientists even cared more about the enviroment for there “1000″ year empire and tryed to find fuels that did not destroy the enviroment. American only cares about money and making every pennie they can off everything.
Since this has the dispersant Corexit 9527 that ruptures red blood cells, then will people begin dying from this as well? Should anyone even be swimming or even eating seafood? I live in Seattle, and I am a bit worried as to whether or not I should eat any seafood whatsoever.
You people seriously think THIS is what’s going to end the world? Your ignorance befuddles me! Stop being so damn paranoid and live your lives free from constant “End Time” worry. Jesus said not to worry your hearts, Now please stop with your pathetic attempts to scare the world straight.
Really, it’s annoying. We’ll be fine, your blowing things way out of proportion.
Sincerely,
The last person on this earth with common sense.
Jeanette (the commenter who is waiting for Gods help) please save us the Jesus and God BS. Let me tell you a little story:
A proud and faithful man is warned of an impending flood, and he responds, “I have complete confidence God will save me.”
- The flood rises to his home’s first floor, and an emergecy truck offers to pick him up. “No” says the man. “I have complete confidence God will save me.”
- The flood rises to his home’s 2nd floor, and an emergecy boat offers to pick him up. “No” says the man. “I have complete confidence God will save me.”
- The flood rises to his home’s roof, and an emergecy helicopter offers to pick him up. “No” says the man. “I have complete confidence God will save me.”
The man dies in the flood, goes to heaven, and asks God “Why didn’t you save me?”. God replies “I tried. I sent you a truck, a boat, and a helicopter.”
Wheather we ruin the world or not Matters as we are taking possibility of life for billions of future human beings too. Besides I dont want to die. I dont want to see the Dolphins die or other fish die. Also it would be no comfort to me to know Jesus loves me or God will save me. I want our govenment to go ALL OUT and fix this problem and clean up the mess . Subsequently, regulate all potentially hazardous industry.
America needs to stand up and revolt against BP SORRY AND COWARDLY ACTS
Micahel ….The ocean is already dead, its done and over…the oil is in places we dont even know about yet. basically. We F’ed up big time! and there is no tkaing it back. Those animals are DYING and SUFFERING, they live and breath just like us, we are animals too!…Were gonna most likely end up suffering just as bad. And this oil spill is the tip of the iceberg. And there is virtually nothing we can do about it
MATT: Tell that to the DEAD dolphins and Dying Birds stuck in the Gunky Oil! Tell that to your kids when you need to take them to the hospital for eating poisoned fish! Tell that to the people who have expirenced the oil spill and blowing their heads off on the beach! Its because of people like you that Sxxt like this dosnt get taken care of properly.
The first diesel engine was run on peanut and hemp seed oil. Why do we not go back to that? It worked fine and with 40-50 years of tweaking it can be as effective or more than gasoline with much less pollution.
From http://www.rockhawk.com/gasoline_and_hemp.htm
Rudolf Diesel, the inventor of the diesel engine, designed it to run on vegetable and seed oils like hemp; he actually ran the thing on peanut oil for the 1900 World’s Fair. Henry Ford used hemp to not only construct cars but also fuel them.
As an alternative to methanol, hemp has at least one glowing report: the plant produces up to four times more cellulose per acre than trees. And a hemp crop grows a little quicker than a forest.
As for an alternative to petroleum,
• Hemp grows like mad from border to border in America; so shortages are unlikely. And, unlike petrol, unless we run out of soil, hemp is renewable.
• Growing and harvesting the stuff has much less environmental impact than procuring oil.
• Hemp fuel is biodegradable; so oil spills become fertilizer not eco-catastrophes.
• Hemp fuel does not contribute to sulfur dioxide air poisoning.
• Other noxious emissions like carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons are radically slashed by using “biodiesel.”
• Hemp fuel is nontoxic and only a mild skin irritant; anybody who’s ever cleaned out an old carburetor with gasoline can confirm the same is not true for petrol.
• Growing hemp for fuel would be a tremendous boon for American farmers and the agricultural industry, as opposed to groups like, say, the oil companies.
And that’s why hemp might not go anywhere as a fuel alternative. Oil interests are big and donate likewise to politicians, and selling a man on an idea that will cost him more than he’ll benefit requires an amazingly skilled orator — or a gun. Unfortunately, unless you’re the federal government, gunpoint conversions are usually illegal. Ergo, PR is about the best bet right now.
The people need to retake power. It’s time to fix America.
This is not our fault. We should not feel guilty. This is not what “we the people” wanted. We didn’t demand the oil. WE wanted to develop safer methods of generating energy. WE wanted slow and stable progress. WEEEE don’t become rich from using oil. Only the people that sell the oil become rich from oil. THEY need us to need the oil. Without us, they would not get rich on their oil.
Tomorrow I will ride my bike to work and contemplate what a beautiful world this would be if we didn’t have oil. I would rather live in a Tipi than live in the world that we created. This ugly stinking world that they keep telling us that we wanted. WE did not want THIS.
Right?
The Gulf oil spill, hurricanes, and the recent heat wave have many searching for answers. The internet is buzzing with articles and excellent blogs. But could it be simply the biblical sequence of God’s wrath being poured out upon the earth which is relevant to current events in today’s world? What if we are dealing with the wrath of God? Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you’re chewing on life’s gristle
Don’t grumble, give a whistle
And this’ll help things turn out for the best…
And…always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the light side of life…
If life seems jolly rotten
There’s something you’ve forgotten
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you’re feeling in the dumps
Don’t be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle – that’s the thing.
And…always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the light side of life…
For life is quite absurd
And death’s the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin – give the audience a grin
Enjoy it – it’s your last chance anyhow.
So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath
Life’s a piece of s***
When you look at it
Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke, it’s true.
You’ll see it’s all a show
Keep ‘em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the right side of life…
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the bright side of life…
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life…
(I mean – what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing – you’re going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life…
