The Frightening Rise Of Christian Persecution: Christians Around The World Are Being Shot, Burned, Hanged, Tortured And Stuffed Into Metal Shipping Containers

The Frightening Rise Of Christian PersecutionThere is a widely quoted statistic that more Christians died for their faith in the 20th century than in the 19 centuries leading up to it.  But as bad as the 20th century was, the 21st century is starting to make that look like a Sunday picnic.  In every corner of the globe, Christians are being shot, burned, hanged, tortured and even stuffed into metal shipping containers.  Christian clergy are being marked for assassination around the world, hundreds of churches are being burned to the ground along with scores of homes and businesses owned by Christians.  Dozens of nations across the globe have now passed strict anti-conversion laws in an attempt to stifle the spread of Christianity.  In the countries where Christians are not yet facing physical persecution, they still must deal with open discrimination, lawsuits and increasing ridicule.  Christianity is now the most hated and most persecuted religion on the plant.  The reality is that the words that Jesus spoke in John 15:18 ring truer today than ever: "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first."

Keep those words in mind as you read the following shocking reports of Christian persecution from all over the world....

China

Chinese authorities have conducted a crackdown on "illegal" Christian churches in recent months that church leaders are calling the harshest in years.  Christians in China are required to worship in "churches" run by state-controlled organizations, and Christians who attempt to worship on their own are brutally persecuted.

Recently, hundreds of government police and hired thugs descended on a megachurch that served approximately 50,000 worshippers, smashing doors and windows, seizing Bibles and sending dozens of worshippers to hospitals with serious injuries.  The co-pastors of the church are in prison and police vehicles remain parked on virtually every corner of the neighborhood where the church is located.  Scenes such as this are regularly being repeated all over China as the Communist government seeks to eliminate all religion that is not government-sanctioned.

Eritrea

In a story that recently made headlines all over the world, thirty elderly women in Eritrea were arrested for simply praying together.  But the truth is that this is just the latest episode in an ongoing persecution of Christians that is beyond brutal.

The Pakistan Christian TV website recently described the horrifc persecution of Christians in Eritrea this way....

Today some 3,000 Eritrean Christians are imprisoned for their faith. Some are in underground and solitary cells whilst some are in 'secret' prisons for the 'disappeared'. However, most are herded into unventilated shipping containers in the desert where dysentery and infectious diseases go untreated. Torture is routine.

The truth is that these unventilated shipping containers are extremely uncomfortable.  The temperatures in these metal shipping containers can reach well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and in many instances Christians are not even let out of them to use the bathroom.

Assassinations Of Clergy

Increasingly, Christian clergy are being targeted for assassination all over the world.  The following are just a few of the recent examples....

*A Russian priest that had been highly critical of Islam has been assassinated inside his own church.

*Leftist guerrillas in Colombia brutally executed a Christian pastor just outside his own home.

*Two masked members of the al-Shabaab Muslim militia shot and killed a Christian pastor in Somalia as he drove home from a worship service.

India

Persecution of Christians in India is getting so bad that India actually made International Christian Concern's Hall of Shame.

According to the ICC, 2008 was particularly bad, with "wave after wave of highly coordinated Hindu raids" that resulted in "the worst outbreak of anti-Christian violence in its recent history."

The statistics that the ICC quotes regarding the outbreak of persecution in India are sobering....

"In all, more than 100 Christians are confirmed dead, 4,000 homes have burned down, and over 50,000 Christians have fled their homes."

The following is just one example of what is going on in India.  This story was originally posted by The Voice of the Martyrs....

----

On April 25, Pastor Mohan Babu and two other believers were severely beaten by 35 Hindu extremists for holding a Vacation Bible School (VBS) near Bangalore City, in Karnataka State. According to The Voice of the Martyrs contacts in India, the three-day VBS was organized by Ragigudda Baptist Church. VOM sources said, "Around 60 children from different backgrounds were attending the VBS. As they were worshiping, about 35 people belonging to a Hindu extremist group forcefully entered the hut chanting slogans and demolished the hut. The extremists mercilessly beat Mohan, Samuel and Krishna, alleging forceful conversion. The perpetrators chased the children without any courtesy and tore the Bibles. Mohan was severely injured on his lips and was profusely bleeding. The believers are living in fear and did not lodge complaint with the police."

----

Egypt

Hundreds of Muslim villagers in southern Egypt recently burned and looted scores of Christian-owned shops.  Christians in Egypt live in a constant state of fear and thousands are being forced to relocate.  In fact, the forced deportation of Egyptian Christians from their homes by the government in order to "protect" them is rapidly increasing.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia, of course, strictly forbids the conversion of any Muslim to Christianity.  The penalty for conversion is death.  Back in 2008, The daughter of a man who works for Saudi Arabia's religious police became a Christian after she joined an Internet chat group.  He responded by cutting out her tongue and burning her to death.

The United Kingdom and Europe

All across Europe, "anti-proselytising" laws are being passed.  Not only that, but other laws are being adopted that force Christians to deny their beliefs.  For example, the U.K. government is being forced by the European Commission to eliminate exemptions that allow churches to refuse to employ homosexual staff.

North Korea

North Korea is one of the most brutally repressive governments in the history of mankind.  Tonight more than 200,000 Christians will try to stay warm in horrific North Korean labor camps.

Christians there are considered little more than dogs as the following story from The Voice Of The Martyrs illustrates.....

----

The young brown-eyed girl looked up at her mother. What would she decide?

Earlier that morning, the young girl's mother, their pastor, and twenty-six others in her North Korean village of GokSan were bound and taken before a screaming crowd of Communists.

One of the guards ordered Pastor Kim and the other Christians, "Deny Christ, or you will die." The words chilled her. How could they ask her to deny Jesus? She knew in her heart he was real. They all quietly refused.

Then the Communist guard shouted directly at the adult Christians, "Deny Christ, or we will hang your children." The young girl looked up at her mother. She gripped her and knowing how much her mom loved her. her mother then leaned down. With confidence and peace she whispered, "Today, my love, I will see you in heaven."

All of the children were hanged.

The remaining believers were then brought out onto the pavement and forced to lie down in front of a huge steamroller. The Communists gave them one last chance. "Deny this Jesus or you will be crushed." The Christians had already given up their children; there was no turning back.

As the driver started the heavy piece of equipment, the singing from the villagers started softly. "More love, O Christ, to thee, more love to thee."

----

United States

Even with everything that has happened, the United States still offers Christians more freedom than virtually anywhere else on earth.  But that is quickly changing as well.  Christians in the U.S. just do not have the same level of freedom that they used to experience.

For example, school teachers in Florida say that they are being forced to hide in closets to pray after a controversial court ruling.  All expressions of Christian faith are being ruthlessly pushed out of the public sphere by very powerful interest groups.

Calls for government repression of Christianity in the United States have grown louder than ever before.  The Huffington Post even published a deeply disturbing article that calls evangelical Christianity the number one source of domestic terrorism in the United States and that calls on the Secret Service and the FBI to investigate and "infiltrate" pro-life and evangelical Christian groups.

Not only that, but many of the hottest best selling books in recent years have publicly mocked Christianity....

Just consider the titles of a few recent New York Times bestsellers.....

*"God is Not Great: Why Religion Poisons Everything" by journalist Christopher Hitchens.

*"The End of Faith" by atheist author Sam Harris.

*"The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins.

But this anti-Christian sentiment is just not held by a few elitists.  The reality is that it has spread to much of the general population.

For example, the following are the titles of just a few anti-Christian threads on one of the most popular political discussion forums on the Internet....

“Dirty, Filthy, Christians”: Treatise On The Most Dangerous Death Cult In Human History

How can we destroy Christians?

Christians should not participate in politics

Why Christians are so ******* lame...

Attention Heterosexuals! Repent! Jesus Can Finally Make You Gay!

Christian are sub-humans

The truth is that hatred for Christians and Christianity is rapidly increasing.

Jesus warned us that these days would come.

In Matthew 24:9, Jesus told us how the world will treat Christians in the end times....

"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me."

The times ahead of us are not referred to as "the Tribulation" for nothing.  It will be an absolute bloodbath for Christians.  The entire world system will be geared towards eliminating all traces of the true Christian faith.  Members of the same family will even betray one another to the authorities.

The truth is that things are not going to get any easier for Christians from here on out.    Someday soon there will be no place to hide from Christian persecution.

When that day arrives, what will you do?

For more on the horrific persecution that Christians are experiencing all over the globe, check out the following video....

Thank you for sharing this information. I think most of our time is spent thinking on our personal comforts and than on advancing the gospel message. Persecution is knocking at our doors steps and the church is going to be purified. Our political correctness culture will not save us. We must stand up for the through and keep proclaiming that Jesus is lot. I am shocked by the number of Christians who are not willing to identify themselves with the Lord in the name of maintaining professionalism in the market place. Jesus said, if we are afraid testify about him before men, He would treat us in like manner.
    God help us all.

We all christians should be prepared for this, as the time of Lords return is near, only the Holy Spirit will give us the strength and courage even to the point of death to be martyer for the Lord.
O Holy Spirit I pray to give all the christians in this world the strength to stand firm in their faith and not to deny Lord Jesus Christ, in Jesus name I pray
    Amen.

A sobering article that should cause Christians to strive for a closer walk with the Lord. We like to think we will be able to withstand persecution, but how many of us would be able to withstand real physical persecution like was reported here. As we see these events escalate, we can be sure the Rapture draws ever nearer. We over at http://www.rap-con.com are following the signs of these times closely!

The Lord said this would happen….I will stand for Christ NO MATTER what the cost. I get ridiculed and made fun of at work I DON”T CARE…Christ is all that matters to me…I know that this world is not my home it is only temporary and when persecution comes my way I am ready because my Lord is with me…

It is nice to share this, I live in DR and here we have freedom to talk about Jesus and say we are Christians, but Satan has been doing a so hard job here that people don’t even like to go to church anymore and the few Christians that we have, some seem not to even want to preach the gospel. I wish we could all stand with faith in Jesus and preach every time we have the chance to, for some places people would like to, but can’t, here we can’t, but many have no will. let’s continue to preach and pray for our fellow Christians so they can understand, preach the gospel is important.
    God loves you

I will gladly die for my belief in YeshuA. I consioder it an honour. My prayer is that Yeshua will give me the strength to hold out against any infliction.

  • Rick

Lord Jesus come quickly. I pray for all my brothers and sisters in this world who are standing for you. Forgive me for not being thankful for all you’ve given us in America. In the name above all names, Jesus Christ.

  • Mrs. Mason

Please remember that they (the world) will know us by our (brotherly Christian, forgiving) love for one another. Jesus is coming back for a bride without spot or wrinkle. Do you have my back? Are you willing to pray for me? (your brother or sister in Christ). We wrestle not against flesh and blood…

  • BHONG

In this evil world, fervent prayers should be our constant deed. We must pray for our brothers and sisters who have given up everything for the glory of our most loved Lord. We should pray for Christ’s missionaries around the world, those who have given up their lives for the gospel. They are our warriors For Christ..But its disheartening to know that some of our christian brothers are so comfortable in this present life that we can no longer distinguish their spiritual color with those who are in darkness. We need to constantly pray so that the holy spirit will give us wisdom and direction as we thread this dark journey of our spiritual existence in the world. To God all the glory and honor..

It is a mistake in your articles to call Christianity a religion. Churchianity is a religion. Yahweh is reaching down to mankind whereas Religions are reaching out to the gods they worship. So many religions worship god that this word has become meaningless. Yahweh Elohim is His Name, Yeshua is HIS Son. He is The One and Only Yahweh. Before Yeshua comes for HIS Bride we will know persecutions and tribulations where ever we are living. I am 74 years old. For the first and only time in my life in January this year 2009 my Heavenly Father gave me a vision of these words. Jesus Christ is Coming Soon. As soon as I read the words they disappeared. I believe HE will come by the end of Obamas first term as Obama prepares the world for the coming of the Man of Sin from the Abyss. As Paul has said, whether we live or die, it is far better to be with HIM.

This is the critical test…. have you given your life up to Christ totally… do you really believe? because if someone threatens to murder your child in front of you if you won’t denounce Christ, you’ve got a mighty important decision to make and a halfhearted belief won’t cut it.

God knows the names of these dear precious saints who have suffered torture and given their lives to stand in Jesus name. Let them urge us on and encourage us and their sacrifice not be in vain here on earth.

I feel sorry for all the Christians being murdered around the world for their faith. Unless they are all Amish, I suggest they get together, and protect themselves.

  • Mark

I have not been a Christian very long and struggle with my former atheist beliefs every day.I am saddened by what I have read and am fearful that this same treatment will arrive in the USA.I know that we as Christians may have to go thru hard times and am willing to do so for Christ. My prayers go out to all Christians and followers of God.

  • Keith Glass

I feel ashamed that I call myself a christian, when I read articles like these, that show what some christians are going through rather than deny the very Lord who died for them. My prayers will always be said with humility and love for my fellow christians, who are giving their lives for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Lord I pray you will grant these christians sufficient grace for their needs. Please sustain them in their hour of perecution. amen.

O Lord, what evil ways we have in the nature of our flesh and our coverings of sin. Forgive me my trespasses against You Father, and push my iniquities far from You. I know that these times cannot be avoided and are necessary for the furthering of Your magnificent and benevolent plan for all of Your creation, and You feel directly the heavy pain I can only imagine as I read of these occurrences that are taking place more and more frequently around the globe. I trust your judgement completely and believe in your Son and your Word. May everything You see fit come into fruition.
    Amen

I live in Lithuania. Christians aren’t persecute here but otherwise. We are proud of going to church… Thus I have read your information with great surprise. It was warning- challenging.
World news tested my personal faith and I thank you for the awakening. For the renewed desire to share Good News in full voice.

A dose of reality here is in order. It is one thing to claim one’s belief in Christ, the Bible, and even its tenets of love, charity, faithfulness, to name but a few. It is another not to protect yourselves and your family from persecution when you have the ability to prepare and then to do so. To not do so is the epitome of delusion and stupidity. Afterall in comparison to the Bible even the lowly U.S. Constitution states as such – of which you have freely benefited from it to practice your beliefs without fear of persecution.

All of you who are more than willing to acquiesce without a fight to these persecuters and be slaughtered like mindless lambs in the ‘Name of Jesus’ so you have a guaranteed spot in heaven are of those I want no part of either certainly in hell but moreso in heaven. I do not want to be around men I don’t care where it is who were quivering cowards. For it is given to man that it is no sin to defend himself from those that will do him harm. If such was the case, then the Israelites would’ve been made extinct long ago.

Think carefully what is being asked of you as Christians in this endless debate of turning the other cheek and confusing it with protecting oneself with whatever means necessary from evildoers. You are not being asked to be slaughtered for the sake of slaughter. You are being asked to be willing to die for your faith even if it means that doing so means that you will die fighting for it, and if death then is imminent after all is said and done not renounce it.

Gather your men together and think about these things I have said before it is too late. Your women and children must be defended, as well your congregation, and the man who does not defend them is less than a jackal in God’s eyes. The burden is upon principally men to also trust in God within his faith and also in battle. God will not let those who fail in this regard into his kingdom. He will spew those who are neither hot nor cold but lukewarm from his mouth and those that think as cowards are lukewarm indeed.

‘Gird your loins’ and prepare for battle. The time is nigh. Think like men and soldiers of God. And be not afraid of how you will be judged by rather why you will be judged.

All these stories are truly sad indeed, now I know what it will be like in the time during the tibulation. I knew not of the extent of persecution going on in other countries about christians. I pray for christians around the world daily, the Lord has brought him recently to my mind. Now I know why. God help us, as this dark world hates us so. Lord protect us, bless us, save us. Forgive those who do not know what they do. Father be with us in this dangerous era we now live in.

  • Servant to the Most High

Though I would like for Christ to return today, it is my most earnest prayer that he would restrain a bit more. I pray that our brothers & sisters in Christ will have more faith a little longer. We all need to keep praying that we & others will prepare for the soon later rain that will come.

In due time all the world will hear the last cry of the righteous; those that will testify to the the love & mercy of the Lord most high before the closing of probation. May the Lord command the angels to hold back the winds of strife a bit longer so more people will have the opportunity to hear the loving gospel of a savior that came and died for all of us. I pray that we will fast & pray more for guidance, wisdom, and love for one another–especially for those that do and will persecute & hurt us.

God loves them all, though they do not know it or believe it. All else in our lives must be put aside–spreading the gospel and the Three Angels Message is/should be the only thing that occupies our mind & time, everything else is for selfish gain.

Please pray for me as I pray for you all. God bless, I shall see you in Heaven.

Kindest regards, your sister in Christ.

  • William Powell

I have been keeping up with this persecution of Christians and I agree with this who say it is coming here and as for physically defending myself. Did Jesus physically defend himself before going to the cross? No, it died on it willingly and paid the penalty for our despicable, detestable, and deplorable sin. I want to have this courage when Christians start to get more violently persecuted.

    Hebrews 13:3

Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if yourselves were suffering.

God bless and let us be strong, courageous, and brave in our fight against Satan and his minions. Amen.

  • Lucas Nell

The time for this is now and we were warned through the bible that this would happen. Its a worldwide thing and South Africa also show the signs. Christians must now hold on to their faith as never before. Our faith will be tested as never before. I also must admit that im fighting against the urge to wipe out anyone who speak against my faith and GOD but have enough wisdom to know that it will not be the way to go right now. I also pray that something would happen to show those that our GOD is coming.

  • Miranda Mabandla

I would like to say to the church around the world especially those who are being persecuted and those who makes us aware of what is going on thank you give us the reason to continue and trust our Lord Jesus. We pray for u and everything happens I’ll with brethren at church and also on facebook even with neighbours God bless you forever Amen.

Acts 5 vs.41…and they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. 42. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

  • Eleanor McGill

Thank you father God for allowing my eyes to see this. I will pray for all my brothers and sisters in the lord. I feel so ashamed because I’m always praying for things to make my own life easy. May this open my eyes and may I share this with others. I’m so spoiled and I take for granted the easiness of going to church and worshiping you with freedom. Shame on me. I had no ideal. Thank you for this eye opener today. May your will be done in the life of Americans may we learn the truth. May we stop pretending and stop looking the other way.i pray for my faith to grow. If I was asked to deny you in order for my little boy to live. Wow what faith that women had may her story reach the ears of them world. My prayers will be for all the country’s who have to hide there love for you, who die for you. May I grow fatter in faith. Father we we. Father may we all stand firm and may we all be ready for your son Jesus who will return for his children. I pray for all the gypsys to repent and to really serve you with whole hart and soul. In Jesus name I pray. I don’t have any fancy words, all I no is that this mad me sad for all your children who suffer for your holy name.
