Although they may seem random and unrelated, earthquakes have been sporadically striking all across the world signalling some sort of overall instability in the earth's crust. Im sure we are not all going to die, but its clear that some sort of major event is about to take place very soon. It would be stupid and naive to simply take all this data and treat it as an anomaly rather than an indicator.
